Nestled at the end of a private lane, this is a beautiful location with easy access to open moorland. Lying on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, Southlake Barn is only a mile from Burrator Reservoir. Dartmoor National Park covers over 230,000 acres of rugged countryside and picturesque villages, and is the perfect place for outdoor enthusiasts with access to walking, cycling, horse riding, hiking and climbing. Cycle hire is available locally with easy access to Route 27. Scenery Cottage is a quaint cottage in the centre of the ancient village of Bridford, high up on the eastern edge of Dartmoor. The cottage, which accommodates up to four adults, is believed to be over 200 years old and was once the village school. Scenery Cottage is close to the 17th century Thomas Becket Church as well as the highly recommended Bridford Inn. Best of all, the cottage looks out over wonderful scenery (hence the name) and there are stunning walks literally from the doorstep. Whilst it is the perfect place for a long weekend break, there is more than enough to do and see to reward an extended stay too. The cottage has a kitchen/dining area which is fully equipped and with a wood burner. After a fun filled day exploring Devon, you can kick back on the sofa in the cosy living room, relax and watch your favourite programme on the Smart Freeview TV. Heading up to the first floor, there are two comfortably furnished bedrooms. One has a double bed and an en-suite shower room and the other has twin beds. On the same level is the family bathroom which has a beautiful freestanding bath.
Bridford is located in the beautiful Teign Valley, providing an excellent base from which to explore this wonderful area. Although very popular with walkers and horse riders, the village is not on the usual tourist trail and has remained unspoilt. This area is one of Dartmoor’s best kept secrets, a quiet, traditional village set in beautiful countryside in an area that has been captivating visitors for generations. The magical waterfalls, lakes and ancient woodlands of Canonteign Falls are just 4 miles away as well as the Teign Valley Golf Course. The wild bird sanctuary and reserve at Dawlish Warren is nearby, as is Dartmoor National Park which offers excellent opportunities for outdoor pursuits including walks around the local reservoirs and to explore the various different tors on the moorland.

The bedrooms, each with a Smart TV, are located at each end of the apartment, with a twin bedroom at one end and a double bedroom at the other which has beautiful French doors leading to your private gravelled courtyard. The large bathroom has a bath with shower over, toilet and light up mirror, there is also a second separate toilet. Outside, you have two private courtyard spaces, both of which are fully enclosed and have seating areas where you can sit back and relax or enjoy an al fresco meal. Your four legged family members are able to run around in this area. You also have use of the owner’s enchanting landscaped gardens that lead down to the River Barle, where you are able to spend time fishing as the owners have the rights to this part of the river! *Please keep your dogs on the lead in the main gardens due to the owner’s chickens and ducks.
When staying at Withymead Cottage, you are lucky enough to be staying in one of Exmoor’s most picturesque villages, with its river meandering through, a fabulous tea room, well stocked local shop and a 17th-century pub, it truly is the English countryside at its finest. Miles and miles of walks head off in every direction or jump in your car and discover more of the area, such as Tarr Steps or the beautiful north coast towns of Porlock and Lynton. For more history head to the Medieval village of Dunster and visit the Castle then jump on the West Somerset Steam Railway and chug along the coast and through the countyside.
