Higher Rowes Farm is peacefully situated in the hamlet of Horndon just one mile from the village of Mary Tavy with it’s friendly local pub, post office and village shop. The property isn’t completely remote though, as just five miles away lies the Stannary town of Tavistock, with its farmers’ market, boutique shops, supermarkets, bistros, pubs, and cafés. The property’s West Devon location means that it is possible to reach both the north and south coasts of Cornwall and Devon in under an hour, and of particular interest, are the fishing village of Looe, King Arthur’s Tintagel, and the National Trust village of Boscastle. There are also plenty of local beauty spots nearby, including the Lydford Gorge, Burrator Reservoir, Dartmoor Zoo, Castle Drogo and the historic Buckland Abbey. The Old School House is a superb property situated in Horrabridge, on the edge of Dartmoor National Park.
It’s an extremely spacious 5000 square foot, late-Victorian former schoolhouse, built in 1875 of local stone and slate. This beautiful seven-bedroom holiday home comfortably accommodates up to twenty two guests and presents a wonderful base for a group of family and friends to enjoy a luxurious and relaxing break. The property showcases two hot tubs, six bathrooms, bath tubs lavishly positioned in two of the bedrooms, a games room, large garden, and a children’s play area. The main part of the building on the ground floor has a magnificent large kitchen and dining area with seating for up to twenty guests, an island worktop, exquisite quartz countertops and plenty of appliances. Other features include a pantry, boot room, cloakroom, the enormous living room with two large seating areas and a wood burner, patio doors opening out into the garden and a games room with a pool table and dartboard.
The annexed area at the far end can be accessed through a connecting hallway or via a separate entrance and it contains an additional open plan kitchen, living and dining area, a shower room and a staircase leading to the two bedrooms above. This beautiful, detached home has three staircases in total leading to the first floor which divides two bedrooms at the far end for eight guests, the extraordinary master ensuite bedroom in the middle for a couple and the other three bedrooms at the other end accommodating up to twelve guests. The final en-suite double bedroom is located on the ground floor. Horrabridge is a beautiful village with a village green and medieval bridge on the banks of the River Walkham. It is serviced by a selection of shops including a post office and stores, bakery, fish and chip shop, art gallery and two pubs. Tavistock, a nearby thriving market town rich in history and tradition dating back to the 10th century, just 3½ miles away to the northwest.

This character cottage is situated in the heart of historic Lydford within the stunning Dartmoor National Park. A traditional Devon property, Chapel Cottage sleeps up to five people in two bedrooms upstairs: a triple with double and single bed, along with a kingsize bed in the second room. A double shower room with toilet and wash basin sits alongside the bedrooms on the first floor. On the ground floor you’ll find an open plan living space, smart TV, cosy wood burner and a kitchenette (with fridge and dishwasher). Walk through to the adjacent, main kitchen as well as a lovely walk-in pantry and there’s also access to the courtyard and garden from here. Outside you can enjoy the garden with seating areas.
The cottage is located just ¼ mile from Lydford Gorge, the deepest river gorge in the south west and has waterfalls, ancient woodland, wildlife, and beautiful year-round walks. Within walking distance, you have access to St. Petrock’s Church, Lydford Castle, two local 16t- century pubs, Lydford Farm Shop and the Granite Way, an 11-mile multi-use trail running between Lydford and Okehampton. With easy access to the moors, you are free to search the tors, Neolithic tombs, Bronze Age stone circles and abandoned medieval farmhouses in this amazing landscape! The surrounding area is filled with rolling hills and magnificent scenery.

The Bing is a pretty, one-bedroom holiday home situated within the quintessential village of Poundsgate, in the heart of Dartmoor National Park. The cottage is located nearby to the most famed and beloved beauty spots of Hay Tor, Hound Tor and Dartmeet. Whether on foot or on bike, there are endless routes straight from the doorstep, and the more adventurous may wish to tackle the rugged and dramatic Dartmoor tors. Along with the stunning Dartmoor National Park to explore, enjoy a long walk and a well-earned drink afterwards in one of the many historic pubs dotted around. Just a short drive away is Widecombe-in-the-Moor, renowned for its fair and its church known as ‘The Cathedral in the Moor’. With spectacular moorland and tors arising on all sides, with two lovely pubs, café and shops as well riding stables nearby, making it the perfect location for walkers, mountain bikers, riders, bird watchers or those that love dramatic landscapes.
There are lots of family friendly attractions in the area to keep you occupied during your holiday such as a visit to Buckfast Abbey, Pennywell Farm, the River Dart country park, the butterfly farm, and the otter sanctuary. The Southwest Coast Path and the local beaches of Teignmouth, Shaldon and Dawlish are around a 40-minute drive away. Day trips to the beaches in the South Hams, such as Blackpool Sands and Goodrington Beach, also offer a great alternative for a fun day out. On the level part of the garden there is a garden room with dining area and sofa and chair, bar/kitchen area and infra-red heater. Outside is a charcoal barbecue.

A charming terraced stone cottage, located in one of the little side lanes off the main fore street in the village of Buckfastleigh. Mill Cottage is a cosy holiday home with beamed interior and enclosed lawned rear garden. This property is a good family size and for the outdoor type. Buckfastleigh is a great base from which to explore the area. Buckfastleigh is located on the fringes of Dartmoor National Park, within easy access of the A38 making Devon very accessible. The village has an outdoor, public swimming pool, and is well known for the steam railway, and the butterfly and otter sanctuary, which are all great family attractions. Shop, pub and restaurant 50 yards.

Situated within the Dartmoor National Park, set back from a beautiful, leafy stretch of the B3212 and a mile from Doccombe, these three, lodge-style properties (refs W43911, 28924), accessed via a track, are adjacent to the owners’ home. The holiday lodges lie in a lovely setting that offer a comfortable base from which to explore the surrounding area. There are 10 acres of beautiful, ancient woodland, complete with a stream winding its way through the land, plus an abundance of wildlife, ponds and granite boulders. A rich variety of plants and woodland flowers offer an idyllic haven for the resident wildlife. This is a brilliant area for walking, relaxing and star gazing as there is no light pollution. Nearby, a golf club and horse riding over Dartmoor are available. Being in the midst of Dartmoor, there are many superb walks, reservoirs, heather-clad tors and Dartmoor ponies. There are many places of interest for the whole family. If you are a keen walker, the Teign Valley is well known for its delightful woodland footpaths. It is an area of outstanding beauty and in the springtime, the Dunsford woods are famous for beautiful natural daffodils and a little later, a carpet of bluebells. Hunters Lodge is a one bedroom property styled as a Swiss alpine retreat, and has been stylishly furnished with everything a guest could need for their stay. The open plan living space has a 50" Smart TV with Netflix, a dining table with four chairs and a fully equipped kitchen. with an oven.
Outside the lodge is an enclosed gravelled garden area with seating and a gas barbecue, perfect for dining al fresco on sunny days. Guests are welcome to interact with the animals on site, which include horses, goats, chickens, chicks (depending on the time of year), geese, rabbits and cats.
The lodge is only 3 miles away from Torquay with its palm-lined promenades, shops, restaurants, pubs, cafés and vibrant nightlife. There are several beaches accessible from Torquay town centre by foot and road, as well as its harbour and marina.
Visit nearby Dartmoor National Park with it’s rugged and stunning scenery. You can see the ponies, walk the Tors or simply stop off in one of the many villages for a Devon cream tea.
Paignton, Torquay and Brixham are also great places to visit, as are Exeter and Plymouth, both within a 30-minute drive. There are many National Trust properties in the area, including Agatha Christie’s summer home ’Greenway’, well worth a visit.
For the children, there is Crealy Adventure Park or Go Ape in Haldon. If you are bringing a bicycle, there are many cycle ways off road to be explored, including Powderham Castle where there is a cycle track all along the estuary.
There is also no shortage of day-trip destinations including the Living Coasts Zoo, Round Robin Bus Trip, Paignton Zoo, Woodlands Adventure Park, Babbacombe Model Village and Kents Cavern.
