Maesydderwen, meaning oak field, started life as a working farm and later became a country inn, but is now a collection of delightful holiday cottages, beautifully situated within the living landscape of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The charming market town of Llandeilo, with chic shops and an array of good restaurants, cafes and pubs, is just over three miles away. There is an abundance of wildlife to see and enjoy from the grounds including woodpecker, siskin, marsh tit, goldfinch, nuthatch and wild roe deer. Red kites can also often be seen soaring overhead and there is a feeding station a 20-minute drive away. You can leave the car behind and enjoy wonderful walks directly from the cottage. If you can drag yourself away from Maesydderwen, there are the beautiful castles of Carreg Cennen and Dinefwr nearby, and the dammed lake of Llyn Y Fan Fach at the western border of the Black Mountains. The National Botanic Garden of Wales, 11 miles, with its great glasshouse dome at its centre, is a year round attraction, and within the Brecon Beacons National Park there are masses of paths and trails for walkers, runners, cyclists, mountain bikers, golfers, horse riders and wildlife watchers. Adrenaline sports such as paragliding, canoeing, rafting and abseiling can also be organised within the national park. Fishing is available in the nearby Towy Valley. Beach 30 miles. Ty Isaf (meaning ‘lower house’), is situated within the Brecon Beacons National Park, just outside the Carmarthenshire village of Trapp. There are lovely views of the surrounding countryside and Carreg Cennen Castle from the cottage grounds. From the living area there are French doors leading on to the slate patio area of the garden. The boot/utility room has a washing machine and tumble dryer, microwave and Nespresso coffee machine. There is also a separate shower room with walk-in shower and heated towel rail. There are two bedrooms, one with a king size bed and Smart TV, and a twin room, both with their own en-suite bathrooms.

The outside space is just fabulous, with a large slate patio complete with luxury outdoor furniture overlooking Llandeilo and the River Towy and an enclosed grassed area. Up to two friendly dogs are welcome at the property, but please be aware that there are sheep and cows grazing opposite the property so it may be wise keeping them on a lead when not in your enclosed garden. There is off road parking which can be found at the side of the property.

It overlooks the old mining village of Cwmtwrch at the foot of the Black Mountain on the southern edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The village has two pubs within 200 metres of the cottage serving good quality food, one of which is also dog friendly. There are three more eateries to be found within 2 miles, all of a good standard. There’s a local golf course as well as riding stables nearby. This wonderful cottage lies at the crossroads of four areas of natural beauty; For the walkers out there, the Black Mountain is quite literally out of the gate and onto any one of 3 footpaths, 2 of which follow the Affon Twrch all the way up the mountain the 3rd follows the Nant Gyws on the other side of the ridge. Just 25 miles to the northeast you will find Pen Y Fan, the highest mountain in the Brecon Beacons and 20 miles away to the southwest lies Swansea Bay, the Mumbles and the stunning Gower coastline with its internationally renowned beaches. The epic and romantic castles of Carmarthenshire lie just to the north, whilst the hauntingly beautiful Vale of Neath, and its waterfalls, lie very close by to the east. The National Show Caves for Wales are approximately 10 miles from the property and make a fantastic day out.
